#1 motorsport nuts

The k-nuts and anchor nuts are used across the motorsport disciplines. We mostly sell them for rally cars (WRC, R5, S2000, R3…) and circuit racing cars (DTM, TCR, LMP2, LMP3, GT cars…), but they are also used in formula cars (F1, F3…), karts and racing motorcycles.

metric and imperial K-nuts

We cover a complete range of metric K-nuts with coarse pitch thread as well as fine pitch thread. The most common metric sizes for K-nuts are M5, M6, M8, M10 and M12. However we also consider the sizes M3, M4, M7 and M14 as standard. 1/4″-28 UNF, 5/16″-24 UNF and 3/8″-24 UNF are the common sizes of the imperial K-nuts.

K-nuts are developed by the aerospace industry.

The goal was to be able to fasten the components of an airplane with a nut that is vibration proof and lighter while being more resistant to corrosion.

That is why they’re often called jet nuts!

hexagonal K-nuts are locking nuts with reduced hex

Hexagonal K-nuts are the most applied locking nuts in motorsports applications. Originally designed for the aerospace industries, they were found to be ideal for use in a lot of motorsport applications because of the high strength, low weight and better temperature resistance. They have a reduced hex, so a smaller spanner size is used. This is ideal for a compact and functional design and eliminates the need for excessive material in casings.

These K-nuts can be used up to 235 °C or 450 °F. They are made with metric threads and imperial threads. For some items the J thread form is used, which is common in aerospace applications.

silver plated hexagonal K-nuts with reduced hex for high temperature applications

The hexagaonal Hi-Temp K-nuts are have the same dimensions as the stadard hexagonal K-nuts. They are made of A286 CRES and have silver plating as finish. Silver is a soft metal that can withstand high temperatures. This makes the silver plating an ideal solution to prevent the galling of the threads.

Hexagonal K-nuts with a captive washer are often used for aluminium housings

Similar dimensions as the normal hexagonal k-nuts.
These k-nuts have a captive washer attached to the nut. This eliminates the use of a separate washer.
They are typically used on softer materials such as castings and aluminium gearbox housings.

Floating Anchor Nuts

floating anchor nuts with 2 lugs for rivet mounting

The floating anchor nuts are self locking. The installation is done using rivets. The big advantage is that the nut element is floating. This means that this nut is more forgiving and allows some misalignment.

This type of anchor nut is extremely useful when the part or counterpart can’t always be prepared under ideal circumstances.

The two lug floating anchor nuts are the most popular style of anchor nuts.

Miniature floating anchor nuts with 2 lugs have reduced rivet hole spacing

These floating anchor nuts have a rivet hole at each size of the nut element. The spacing between the rivet holes is reduced to a minimum. This is why they’re called miniature floating anchor nuts.

Floating anchor nuts with a single lug are rivet mounted at one side

This type of floating anchor nuts have two holes for rivet mounting, both at the same side of the nut element.

Fixed Anchor Nuts

The fixed anchor nuts are self locking as a result of the elliptical deformation. The installation is done using rivets. There are two rivet holes: one at each side of the threaded nut element. The nut element is part of the base plated and that is why they are called fixed anchor nuts.

Fixed anchor nuts with a single lug are rivet mounted at one side

This type of fixed anchor nuts also has two rivet holes. This time they are both located at same side of the threaded nut element. The nut element is part of the base plated, so they are also called fixed anchor nuts.

90° fixed anchor nuts have the rivet mounting holes at 90° degree angle instead of 180°

This type of fixed anchor nuts also has two rivet holes. The rivet holes and the nut element are now placed in a 90° position and form a corner. With this type of anchor nuts, the nut element is a part of the base plate.

Side-by-side fixed anchor nuts have the rivet mounting holes next to each other

Similar to the single lug fixed anchor nuts, these nutplates have the two mounting holes on the same side of the nut element. The difference is that the mounting holes are now located side-by-side. This is the most compact anchor nut on the market.
